Fun In The Sun

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good Easter! Mine was pretty good, even though I had to work.

On Wednesday, March 26th, I got up at 3:20 and got everything ready for my trip to California to see my friend Nancy. My mom drove me to the airport, which is about forty minutes away. It took awhile to get through the security line, even though it’s a small airport. I flew to Chicago (O’Hare), and then had to rush to catch my next plane. I was supposed to change planes in Dallas, but the airline called the night before and said I was switching in Denver now. I liked the airport in Denver. I got a veggie sandwich from Quizno’s while I waited. I’d never eaten at Quizno’s before and it was yummy. My plane from Denver to California was delayed, since there was some circuit breaker problem and they had to re-set everything. Finally though, I was on my way to sunny California!

I called my friend Nancy as soon as the plane landed and she left to come and pick me up. The weather was gorgeous the whole time I was there. As soon as Nancy picked me up, we headed right for the mall, LOL. We did some shopping for awhile. I got some new shirts, shorts, and pants. We then went out to eat at an Indian restaurant and I got mushroom marsala with rice. It was sooo good! We then went to Michael’s and got some beads for making jewelry. We then went back to the mall and got some gelato and then did more shopping. I probably spent way too much money! We then went to Nancy’s apartment, which was really nice. We played with her hamster and then worked on our bracelets, but didn’t get too far, since I was tired.

On Thursday, the 27th, Nancy and I headed to Orange County. When we got there, we had lunch at a vegetarian cafe. It was so good! We both got something different and split it, so we could each try the other’s food. We then did some shopping as we headed towards the beach. We walked to the end of the pier and just looked at the water. We then sat on the beach and took funny poses of each other. We went to IKEA then and got some stuff. I had never been there, and it’s an awesome store! There was even a cafeteria, so we got some dessert, LOL. We even took pictures of each other in the display rooms they had in the store. Nancy got some purple curtains and some other stuff for her apartment. We then headed back to Riverside. After getting stuck in traffic for an hour, we finally made it back and then went to a Thai place to eat. We then were laughing as we tried to hang her curtains. The rod we bought was too short, so it looks funny, but oh well. We also put together a table she bought.

On Friday, the 28th, we went to Hollywood. We went to a place called Swinger’s to eat and thought we saw an actress from the show, The Office, there, but we weren’t sure. We then went to the Hollyridge trail and hiked up to the Hollywood sign. We couldn’t get super close, but it was still nice. It was so breath-taking and the sky was a brilliant blue. It wasn’t that crowded either, so we were able to relax and just enjoy nature. We then went to a Farmer’s Market, which had a lot of food and shops. Then, we headed to Westwood, which is a part of Los Angeles. We did some more shopping and then ate at a Thai place called Mr. Noodle. Then, we got these really good cookies and I bought a dozen to bring home. We then went back to Nancy’s apartment and worked on our bracelets. Mine actually turned out better than I thought it would!

She brought me to the airport on Saturday and we hugged twice and said good-bye. I flew to Dallas and bought a few souvenirs while I waited for my flight to Chicago. I then had several hours to kill at O’Hare, so I went to Quizno’s again and did some reading. When I arrived back in Wisconsin, my luggage wasn’t there. The man said it was still in Chicago. So that sucked! I didn't get my luggage until the 1st of April.

Other news is that I applied for a job as a waitress. On April 10th, I had my interview for the job. The girl that hired me is still in high school, so that was kind-of weird, but she's very nice. I was in and out of there in ten minutes with the job, so that was pretty awesome! Also, the restaurant is in a motel, so I can use the pool anytime I want for free.

On Saturday, April 12th, I met my friends Brooke and Melanie at a bar. I got some cheese curds to eat, as I wasn't going to drink on an empty stomach again! We watched the band that was playing there for a little bit, but we grew bored and went to another bar. We met up with some other people from work there and then went to a friend's house. We played the Rock Band video game. Well, I didn't, since I was too chicken, so I just watched, but that was fun also. I didn't get home until 3:40 A. M., but I didn't feel sick, so that's good.

On Tuesday, April 15th, I started my job at the restaurant. My shift is usually from 6 A. M. to 2:30 P. M. My trainer was really nice and it went well. I also worked the next day as well and that went fine. I like my new co-workers and the new job. I haven't spill on anyone yet, so I'm pleased about that. I've always wanted to be a waitress, but was too nervous to ever try it, so I'm glad I did.

On Saturday, April 19th, my friends Brooke and Melanie took me for a total make-over. I got my hair cut and highlighted. We met up with our friend Hillary at the mall and got some new clothes for me as well. We went out that night and our other co-workers said how nice I looked. We had a great time!

Anyway, that's all for now! Hope you had a nice April! :)

More 2008 News

Hey everyone! :) The calendar says it's spring, but it's snowing here right now. I sometimes wonder if spring will ever really arrive! We might even get snow on Easter! Now that is just wrong!

Anyway, since my last blog, I've mostly been at work or helping my aunt Maureen move. Well, I shouldn't take too much credit, since I'm always at work when the actual "moving" is taking place, but I did help a little. She got a new job and that's why she's moving. I still have to see her new place, but it's very nice from what my parents tell me.

A few weeks ago, I went ice fishing with my good friend Tony again. It was a little warmer that day, but I still got a little cold. I did catch ten fish, but three had to be thrown back. I even took some of the fish off the hook myself, which is an accomplishment for me, LOL. I also got my bait stuck in my hair, so that was an adventure. Tony had to yank it out and some of my hair came with it. A little bit later on, I was walking past Tony and my foot got caught in his line. He dove to catch it before it could break, and in the process, the hook got caught in his finger! His uncle was laughing so hard! Tony's finger started to bleed and I felt awful! His uncle said, "Wow, you really caught a big one there, Aubrey!" The rest of the fishing trip went better. I ate dinner with Tony and his family.

Before St. Patrick's Day, I'd been going to McDonalds for those Shamrock Shakes. I am addicted to those things! Now I have to wait a whole year before I can have one again! :( But I'll survive!

On the 8th, I went to a salon to get my hair cut. She layered it, but it's still really long and you can't really tell it's different. I'm also going to grow out my bangs. I need a change in my life! I've looked the same my whole life. Last weekend, I even went and bought $50.00 worth of make-up, which is really unlike me. But it was a lot of fun, and I wanted to treat myself.

I am going to California next week to visit my good friend Nancy. I am so excited about that! We talked on the phone last night and were discussing about what things to do when I visit. It's been over a year since we saw each other!

Not much else is going on. I bought myself an MP3 player the other day and have been busy putting songs on it. I think I can still fit over 100 more on it, and I put lots on already.

Anyway, have a very Happy Easter! :)

Love,
Aubrey

2008 So Far

Hello everyone! :) I am so sorry for my lack of blogs on here lately, but I've had a lot going on! I'll try to fill you in as best as I can!
On New Year's Eve, I had to work. I ended up cutting my finger when I was doing the dishes, but luckily, someone else then helped me, so I didn't have to put my finger in the water so much. When I got home from work, I went to a party with some friends from work. There were six of us total. We ate some food and drank grasshoppers, which I love! Then, we went into the girl's living room and played board games. She has a fireplace and it was so hot that we had to open the door for awhile. We played Cranium, which I'd never played before. This guy, Tony, and I were on a team together and we started off doing really well, but then it went downhill, LOL. We all had a really fun time. We had a strawberry champagne toast a little after midnight, since we weren't paying attention to the time. We then played Balderdash and then Taboo. By that time, we were kind-of tired and I kept giving Tony really bad clues and all we did was laugh, LOL. It was almost 3:30 by the time I got home.

On New Year's Day, we had my relatives over and opened Christmas presents, since we weren't able to do it on Christmas Day. My uncle was acting really funny and had us all in tears from laughing so hard.
On January 4th Tony and I went to see the new National Treasure movie, which we both liked. We then went to his house and watched TV. A few days later, he came over to my house to watch Blades of Glory and then we watched some TV. On January 12th, I went ice fishing with him, his two uncles, and his dad. It was my first time ice fishing and it was a lot of fun! I caught 15 fish, but 7 had to be thrown back because they were too small. I was starting to get cold towards the end, but I had a great time!
On Thursday, the 17th, it was my mom's birthday so I made a chocolate cake with white frosting from scratch. We went over to my grandma's house. We even played "Pin the tail on the donkey", which was hilarious! We were all laughing so hard and had a great time.

On Friday, the 18th, I went with my parents and brother to IL to visit relatives. I got to see my little nephew who just turned one and also my Godson. Both of them had colds though and didn't feel too well! We had pizza for dinner and then had cupcakes. We let the boys open presents and then just hung out for a little bit. It was great to see my cousins again!

On Saturday, we went to see my grandparents. My two aunts and uncle also came over. We had lots of food to eat and lots of dessert, so I didn't feel very well by the time we left!
That is all for now. Thanks for reading and happy February! :)
Love,
Aubrey

White Christmas

Hey everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! :) Mine was interesting. It was the first time in my whole life that I didn't see my grandma on Christmas. My dad had a bad cold, so we all decided it was best if we didn't go over there. So instead, my family and I spent the day exchanged gifts and watching movies. I got the first seasons of "Psych" and "Monk" on DVD, so we watched that for a little bit too. We had egg rolls for dinner, LOL. It was still a good Christmas, though.

Christmas Eve was nice too. My aunt Maureen came over for dinner. We then all went to church for the candlelight service. I managed not to spill wax on myself this year, LOL. We then came back and watched TV while eating cookies.

We for sure had a white Christmas. We had another snowstorm on Sunday. It was so bad that I couldn't get out of our driveway, much less down the road, so I called into work and said I couldn't come in. I knew I'd get stuck again if I tried to go.

Here are a few more things that have happened since my last post:

On Friday the 14th, was our work Christmas Bingo party. There was a buffet, and after we'd eaten, some of us went over to the bar. I didn't get a drink at that point, though, but two nice women I work with were teasing this guy we work with to buy me a drink and I said later on. So then we went to play Bingo. A lot of people at our table won. There was a break after several games, so they dragged me to the bar and before I knew what was happening, I had a peppermint schnapps in my hand. It tasted like Maalox! So then we went to sit back down at the table and Brooke (a friend and co-worker), said to get some punch in it too to make it better, but it didn't really make it better. She said, "Chug it, Aubrey!" I said, "If I chug it, I'll be blowing chunks!" Somehow, I did manage to drink that whole nasty thing and everyone cheered and clapped for me, LOL.

We were on the very last game of Bingo and I won! I couldn't believe it! I launched out of my seat and screamed, "BINGO!" I won fifty bucks! It was really awesome! I was so happy because I usually suck at Bingo. Then Brooke, her husband, and a few others said they were going to another bar and begged me to come with them. I didn't really want to, but I went anyway. It was so smoky and loud in the bar and I had a huge headache. A guy I work with bought me a drink. I don't know what the heck he ordered me, but it was delicious. The bartender asked me if I wanted a small or big glass and Brooke yells, "Give her the big glass!" I got to talk with my co-workers and it was a lot of fun! Everyone is so nice that I work with. I left at 11:45 that night.

I had to work the 17th-20th, mostly doing catering. There were lots of parties to help set-up and carts to deliver. It was a lot of fun, though. It'll probably slow down in catering now for awhile.

Well, this is my last blog of the year. Happy 2008 to everyone! :)

Love,
Aubrey

Stuck

Hi everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! :) Mine was pretty good. Not too much exciting happened, but it was a quiet day filled with way too much to eat!

Anyway, on Tuesday, November 20th, I had an interesting day at work. I got stuck on an elevator! I was helping deliver trays that night and I was going to go up to the 8th floor. So I get on the elevator and it starts going up. Well, the lights shut off and the whole thing stops moving. Seconds later, the lights come back on, but it's still not moving. I was shocked for a minute, so I didn't do anything. Then I saw the phone and pressed the button and talked to a lady on the line. She came up a few minutes later and said she couldn't get the doors open. I was really getting panicked at this point, not for myself, but I was worried about my co-workers. I knew they were worrying about me and wondering where I was. So she called the man who fixes the elevators, but he lived like 25 minutes away! So I just sat there, alone, and tried not to think how bored and annoyed I was. It was about an hour total that I was stuck in that thing. Finally, after he arrived, I felt it move and then it brought me back down to the ground floor. I was never so relieved to see anything before in my life! So I went into the kitchen area and everyone was really nice to me. I said I felt bad about missing work and one girl said, "Hey, I'd be happy if I missed a whole hour of work!" But no one else I work with got stuck on an elevator, so it was something different, ha ha.

I had Tuesday, the 27th, off, so my mom and I drove to Eau Claire to do a little Christmas shopping at the mall there. We also went to Pier 1 and found some neat things. We had the soup, salad, and breadsticks lunch at the Olive Garden, yum! We also got milkshakes at Coldstone Creamery. It was a really nice way to spend my day off!

A few days later, we had a really bad snowstorm and I had to work that night. As I was pulling out of the parking lot that night, I got stuck. Thank goodness there was this nice man there who helped me push out my car. I thanked him about twenty times! So I was almost home and turned onto my road, which is kind-of out in the country. As soon as I got on the road, my car got stuck since there was drifts over a foot high. So I called my parents. At the same time they arrived, so did a sheriff who was driving by. We tried for twenty minutes, but nothing would work. In the process of all this, somehow my break hose got cut! But it was super lucky, because a tow truck went by and stopped! It was the same people we use when we get our cars serviced. So this nice man hooked up my car and brought it back to the garage so they could fix the breaks. I heard from them on Tuesday, and they said they had to order the part for my car. So I had to use this rental car, which drove okay, but it wasn't the same as my car, so I wasn't thrilled about it.

I had to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and use that car. Work went fine, but was really busy, especially on Wednesday. I did finally get my car back on Friday, so I was glad about that!

Anyway, I'm glad the year is almost over, because I don't want to get stuck anywhere else in 2007! Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Aubrey

Sixth Book Signing

Hey everyone! I hope you are doing well! I've been busy with work lately, but it seems to be going well. I've still been delivering trays and catering. I had to help waitress another event, but I didn't spill on anyone, yay! :)

On Saturday, the 10th, I went out to lunch with my friend Dee. She gave me the Girl Scout cookies I ordered from her granddaughters. Those cookies are addicting! I also worked that night and delivered trays and had no accidents, so that was a plus. I worked on Sunday as well.

Anyway, on Monday, I had to get two shots, which wasn't pleasant. They didn't hurt too bad, but I had to get one in each arm. One was a flu shot and the other was a hepatitis shot, which they make you get if you work at the hospital. My arms were sore for about three days. The worst part is, I have to get another hepatitis shot in April, and after that, they need to draw blood to see if I have enough machine in me. I am not good with blood draws. So I'm not looking forward to that! I also had to work that night, passing out trays. I had fourteen late trays to pick up (and that's a lot!), so it was about 8:40 when I finally left. This other girl was still there, so we walked out together.

I also worked on Tuesday and Wednesday in catering. I worked for a little bit on Thursday as well. Friday morning, my boss called me and asked me to come in and help with dishes. I was tired, but I figured, "What the heck?" and went in. I got a little break and then did my evening shift of delivering trays. I didn't have as many late trays, so that was nice.

Yesterday, I had a book signing at the mall. I sold only three copies, but one was to a librarian from Dallas, so she said she'd spread the word, so that was a good sale! It wasn't even as crowded in the mall as I would've thought! My friend Dee stopped by, which I thought was really nice of her. I went out to breakfast today with her at Perkins.

So I guess it was still a good experience at the book signing, even though the sales weren't that high. I like meeting new people and talking with them, so it was nice.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! :)
